The left-wing youth want to use the 9-euro ticket to invade Sylt with their Antifa hordes

The left-wing youth want to use the 9-euro ticket to invade Sylt with their Antifa hordes. The “idea” of the island is said to be destroyed. Sylt vacationers already have enough problems: the sea, so freezing cold that bathing is a torture. A wind they call “stiff breeze” in the north, just “hurricane” in the south. And the Sylt seagulls, which are big and greedy like Simmental calves from Tyrol. A warning for a reason.

Üüs Söl’ring Lön’, dü best üüs helig, dü blefst üüs ain, dü best üüs Lek”, says a North German folk song. And because a southern German like me can decipher Low German about as well as Chinese characters on sun-tanned forearms, I have to rely on the internet to translate this lyrical incident. “Our Sylter Land, you are sacred to us, you remain our own, you are our happiness” is supposed to mean what I quote at the beginning.

It is well known that there are folk songs for every region of the world that sing about something about it. But at the same time it’s also the case that all folk songs tend to overdo it a bit with the praise of their homeland. Except for the Bavarian ones, of course. That’s why I don’t want to get into the debate at this point about which homeland is the nicer one, because in the end that doesn’t lead anywhere. I mean, there are German pop greats who even sing about a city like Bochum. And there are people who feel at home in, say, Wolfsburg. As a liberal, the same applies to the choice of location: everyone according to his or her own style.
