The activities of “Exercise Eager Lion 2024” were launched yesterday, Sunday, at the King Abdullah II Special Operations Training Center / KASOTC, in the presence of the Assistant for Administration and Human Resources, Brigadier General Ali Qablan Al-Daja, and a number of senior officers of the Jordanian Armed Forces and heads of delegations of the participating countries.
Director of Military Training, Brigadier General Hassan Al-Khalidi, said in his speech: Allow me to welcome all of you, and thank you for answering our invitation to attend the Eager Lion exercise, which will be carried out on the territory of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan during the period from May 12-23, which has been receiving such joint exercises since. Years with our partners in the world and the region from sisterly and friendly countries.
The Director of Military Training added that the General Command of the Armed Forces aims, through its training and security strategies, to strengthen military relations with our partners from brotherly and friendly countries, and the Eager Lion exercise is considered one of the most important outcomes of these partnerships that enhance cooperation and coordination between the participating countries in all military fields.
For his part, the Director of the Eager Lion exercise from the American side, Brigadier General Jason Benson, said: Working with partner countries provides an opportunity to pursue new and innovative means to address common threats to regional security at the operational level, and we will work together to enhance capabilities that are interoperable.
Brigadier General Benson added that Exercise Eager Lion gives the United States, Jordan, and participating countries the opportunity to improve their ability to plan and work within international coalitions. This year’s edition will include training on confronting cyber threats, coordination between state agencies, refining counter-terrorism skills, coordinating integrated air defense synchronization, and enhancing competencies. In the field of maritime and border security, disaster response training and cooperation in humanitarian aid operations.
In a related context, a press conference was held at the King Abdullah II Special Operations Training Center (KASOTC) by the spokesman for the Jordanian Armed Forces, Director of Military Information, Brigadier General Mustafa Al-Hiyari, and the media spokesman for the participating American forces, Colonel Herbert Lee Breard, during which he announced the start of the activities of Exercise Lion. Al-Mutahab in its eleventh edition this year.
Brigadier General Al-Hayari said: The activities of the Eager Lion exercise, which is classified as one of the joint military exercises carried out by allied countries against the emerging and cross-border threats of the era, have begun. The exercise will continue to be implemented over a period of twelve days during the period between (12-23) May and in all regions of the Kingdom. .
Brigadier General Al-Hiyari added that the Eager Lion exercise has always brought something new over the years, and it is also in its eleventh edition. This is evident through the slogan of the exercise, which, in addition to the flags of the participating countries, carried the phrases “human being,” which is the focus of the defense operation and the partnership that unites and directs efforts to protect humans and the innovation that Without it, we will lack the means to confront the latest developments in contemporary threats and cross-border threats.
This year’s exercise aims to achieve many goals at the levels (strategic, operational, and tactical), the most important of which is creating a common understanding among the participating countries about the nature of emerging and cross-border threats, such as terrorist organizations, groups, and their supporters, as well as the spread of drones and the threat of the spread of weapons of mass destruction (biological, chemical, and nuclear), and finding the best Ways and means to confront these threats, in addition to harmonizing the forces of the participating countries in terms of planning and targeting methodology, managing military operations, qualifying human resources at the individual and collective levels, responding skills to weapons of mass destruction incidents and humanitarian disasters, dealing with explosives, search and inspection, etc.
At the end of the press conference, questions from journalists and representatives of various media were answered.
It is noteworthy that this year’s Eager Lion exercise is attended by 33 brotherly and friendly countries, namely Jordan, the United States of America, Australia, New Zealand, Bahrain, South Africa, Cyprus, France, Germany, Greece, Iraq, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Kuwait, Lebanon, Norway. , Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Britain, Kazakhstan, Oman, Egypt, Poland, Morocco, Canada, Spain, Romania, Yemen, Kosovo, Brunei and the Netherlands.
