Joe Biden’s administration announced this Thursday more changes to the country’s asylum system in order to speed up the processing and possible expulsion of migrants who continue to arrive at the southern border.

The government’s goal with this change is to process migrants who arrive at the border through the asylum system within six months, which would change the years-long delay that would take with the current delay in the asylum system of the nation.

This measure would apply to those migrants who enter irregularly through the southern border of the United States, without children and who are headed to Atlanta, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York and Boston.

“DHS will place certain single adult aliens found between border ports on the southern border on the list of new cases, spread across five geographic areas, and immigration judges at the Department of Justice will prioritize these cases,” the Biden administration said.

The Biden administration is taking increasingly restrictive measures to discourage people from traveling to the US-Mexico border.

The recommendation of immigration lawyers is that migrants first have their cases defined and studied before entering the United States.

“It is very important that people who really have asylum cases are prepared on evidentiary issues so that they can give clear testimonies,” said Johanna Kelly, an immigration lawyer.

To date, there is a record backlog of 3 million cases in the country’s immigration court. The average number of cases assigned to a judge is 5,000, and these changes would do nothing to reduce his or her workload.

This occurs days after Joe Biden’s government imposed new sanctions this Wednesday against “the repression” of Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega.

The United States accused the regime of participating directly in the illicit business of irregular migration by providing air services so that migrants can fly directly to Nicaragua, avoiding crossing the dangerous Darien jungle.

“In particular, the actions of the Nicaraguan government are cause for serious concern. “President Daniel Ortega and Vice President Rosario Murillo have implemented permissive immigration policies by design that have introduced opportunities for migrant smuggling and trafficking networks to exploit them for economic purposes,” the State Department said.
