Cairo informed “Israel” of the danger of escalation after the occupation took control of the Rafah crossing

The circulation of video clips and pictures by activists on social media, showing an Egyptian military force mounted along the border with the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, raised the concerns of a large number of Israelis.

The Hebrew news website “nziv” said that the publication of these clips and scenes coincides with the beginning of the Israeli occupation army’s attack on Rafah, which is located on the border with Egypt, as well as Cairo’s warnings of the danger of storming.

A video was also circulated, allegedly showing the final preparations of the Egyptian army on the border with Rafah, as the video shows vehicles, tanks, and artillery, with Egyptian flags on them, in addition to a plane in the air.

The Egyptian army invades Rafah

The video publishers claimed that the Egyptian army is present on the border near the Rafah crossing, citing statements by force commanders who said: “We are ready for any scenario.”

Although the video received many likes, it turned out to be old, and a careful analysis of its source revealed that it “goes back to old training exercises that have nothing to do with recent developments in the region,” according to Agence France-Presse.

It has also been confirmed that the original video was posted on Facebook on January 5, 2020, and it is plausible that it is linked to the opening ceremony of the military base in Berenice in 2020, as the official page of the military spokesman for the Egyptian army published a video containing recordings of mounted military vehicles similar to those that appeared in Current video.

Egypt and confrontation scenarios

It is noteworthy that these developments came at a time when a senior Egyptian official announced that Cairo had informed Israel of the danger of escalation after its control of the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing, and Egypt confirmed that it was ready to confront any scenarios.

The Egyptian army is considered one of the strongest armies in the Arab region, and ranks fifth in size in the world, according to military websites.
