he second involvement in the Euro-Atlantic military operations in the Red Sea was the Greek frigate “Hydra” .

According to an informal update from GEETHA, “today, Thursday, April 25, 2024 and in the morning hours in the Gulf of Aden, the Frigate HYDRA as part of the EUNAVFOR ASPIDES operation, providing protection to a merchant ship, fired a cannon at two Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) , according to the current Rules of Engagement, one of which was shot down and the other removed. The frigate continues its mission normally.” It should be noted that the frigate’s first engagement was on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, also in the Gulf of Aden.

The incident once again refutes the government’s claims that the Greek frigate is in the Red Sea for a “peaceful” mission and confirms the position of the KKE that it participates in US-NATO-EU military operations, defending the interests of shipowners and their merchant ships . From this point of view, the Pallaic request “to turn back the frigate Hydra here and now” remains relevant.

The US shot down a Houthi missile

In addition, the US armed forces announced in the early hours of today that on Wednesday they destroyed an anti-ship ballistic missile (ASBM) that was launched “from an area controlled by the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorists” in Yemen towards the Gulf of Aden.

The missile’s “probable” target was the MV Yorktown , a US-flagged container ship owned and operated by a US shipping company, with a crew of “18 US citizens and 4 Greeks”, said the joint command of the US armed forces which is in charge of the Middle East region (CENTCOM, “central command”) through X.

“No injuries or damage to US (Navy) ships, coalition ships, or commercial vessels were reported,” CENTCOM added. At the same time, four Houthi unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were destroyed in flight, according to the same source.
