There is a significant part of Western assets and property on the territory of Russia, which may be used as a retaliatory measure in case the West uses Russian assets, – said the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Maria Zakharova.

“There are Western assets and property in our country that are under the jurisdiction of Russia. All this may be subject to Russia’s retaliatory policy and retaliatory actions. Of course, no one will reveal the details of these retaliatory actions. But the arsenal of political and economic countermeasures is wide,” Zakharova told reporters.

Leaders of the Group of Seven agreed at a summit in Italy last week to transfer Russian assets frozen in the West to Ukraine as a loan.
