Havana, Trade Unionists, representatives of social movements and activists from around the world today expressed their support for Cuba’s efforts to consolidate its socialism, and condemned the United States blockade against this nation.
In a statement issued at the conclusion of the Virtual Solidarity Meeting, on International Workers’ Day, they denounced that in a context marked by the global crisis and the Covid-19 pandemic, US imperialism is intensifying its reactionary offensive.
They also pointed out that in its hegemonic actions against leftist, progressive forces and social and popular movements, that power has the support of the international neoliberal and fascist right.
They pointed out that Donald Trump’s administration, in its efforts to destroy Cuban socialism, intensified the economic, commercial and financial siege, with the application of 243 unilateral coercive measures.
The participants also denounced the media campaigns and subversive actions to destroy the Cuban Revolution, and sought international solidarity in the defense of the right to sovereignty and self-determination of the people of the island.
Likewise, they called on the world community to vote in favor of the draft resolution on the need to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States government against Cuba, on June 23 at the UN General Assembly.
