At the meeting, President To Lam asked Ambassador Zenndy Bezdetko to convey his sincere thanks to Russian President Vladimir Putin for his good wishes on the occasion of being elected President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The President congratulated the Russian people on successfully holding the presidential election last March and believed that Russia under the leadership of President Vladimir Putin would continue to develop strongly.

The President affirmed that Vietnam always considers Russia one of the top priority partners in its foreign policy, always closely monitors the situation and supports Russia’s stable development. The Party, State and people of Vietnam always remember the great and heartfelt help that the Soviet and Russian people gave to Vietnam in the past struggle for independence and national reunification. as well as in the process of innovation, building and protecting the country today.

The President highly appreciated the positive development of the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia over the past time in all channels and fields of cooperation, and was delighted with the cooperation. Bilateral trade quotas have increased significantly in recent times; believes that the two sides still have much potential to promote cooperation, especially in fields such as economics – trade – investment, infrastructure, transportation, tourism, people-to-people exchanges… 

President To Lam believes that through existing bilateral mechanisms, the Vietnam – Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership will continue to be further strengthened in the coming time. Regarding cooperation at international forums, the President welcomed the close coordination and mutual support between the two countries for peace, stability and development in the region and the world.

Ambassador Gennady Bezdetko expressed agreement with President To Lam’s assessment of the relationship between the two countries recently, affirming that the Ambassador and the Embassy will continue to make efforts to deepen the relationship. Comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia; wishes to promote bilateral cooperation in many fields, including economics – trade, defense – security, education – training, science – technology, tourism, people-to-people exchanges…

President To Lam agreed with Ambassador Gennady Bezdetko that Vietnam – Russia relations have a long history, the two countries have overcome many challenges together and achieved many great achievements, as well as commented on the trip. Russian President Vladimir Putin’s upcoming visit to Vietnam will be an important milestone in the two countries’ relationship. The two sides agreed that the two countries’ agencies would coordinate closely to prepare well for the visit, contributing to deepening the solidarity, traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
