With the unexpected death of Ebrahim Raisi, changes are taking place in the country’s political scene, which are important to pay attention to in order to set up effective policies of the popular movement. In the presidential election show of 1400, in the circumstances of widespread boycott of this election by the majority of the people of our country, Ebrahim Raisi was installed on the presidential seat of the country by filling the ballot boxes with the help of the IRGC and security forces. The three-year presidential case of Ebrahim Raisi, a reactionary mercenary and criminal, whom Mr. Montazeri rightly called him and his companions in the “death squad” sent by Khomeini to prisons all over Iran in order to massacre the imprisoned freedom fighters, is among the “criminals of history” among the blackest records of the elected presidents. He was a jurist and his record of being appointed both as the head of the judiciary and the presidency of the Islamic government was a confirmation of this “criminal”.

The violent and bloody policy of suppressing popular protests and labor strikes and the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement, the continuation of widespread attacks on women’s rights, the continuation of neoliberal economic policies, the intensification of poverty and deprivation, the number of poverty and deprivation, according to official data, is over forty percent. The population of the country has gone beyond, the increasing scope of unemployment and inflation, inflation which is based on the latest government statistics of 50%, the continuation of wider and even widespread corruption in government institutions and relations, the continuous looting of national resources, and the continuation of adventurous policies in the field of foreign policy. In the region, the policies that have made Iran’s national interests and security face urgent and increasing risks were the characteristics of the country’s politics and economy during the presidency of Raisi. Raisi continued and expanded the anti-labor program “Economic surgery” by starting his work as the head of the country’s executive branch. With the support of the parasitic layers of the capitalist class, Raisi prepared the scandalous policies of “labor law reform” for the benefit of big capitalists, “liberalization” and wage suppression, and more “privatization” and put it on the government’s agenda. The standard of living of the working class and intellectual and manual laborers during the era of the President’s government became worse than in the past and accelerated.

In the international arena, contrary to some deceptive claims by Khamenei and the regime’s defenders about the strength of the foreign policy of the provincial regime, including the launch of missiles towards Israel, which according to Amir Abdullahian, the Islamic Republic of Iran had already informed the Biden government and, as a result, the government of Israel about this demonstration missile launch. In the field of foreign policy, the representatives of the Islamic Republic have always been engaged in negotiations with the representatives of the United States behind closed doors in order to reach an agreement with the United States. In the last years of the second term of Ahmadinejad’s presidency, similar secret negotiations were underway in Oman, which finally led to the approval of the JCPOA agreement with Khamenei’s “heroic softness” and his explicit order. Accepting the participation of the Islamic Republic in the Shanghai Pact and joining the “BRICS” group such as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Ethiopia, and Argentina is also in the framework of the strategic policies of the leadership of the “BRICS” group and the Shanghai Pact to limit the ways of American influence. And the European Union should be evaluated in the international arena than the “anti-imperialist” policies of the Velayat al-Faqih regime.

The sensitive conditions of the country, and the growing crisis of the Islamic Republic of Iran

Contrary to the false propaganda of Khamenei and the heads of the government and their fake statistics, Iran is in a very critical situation in terms of politics and economy, a situation that has taken on a different dimension with the death of Raisi, and that is why the regime, by highlighting the “external danger” and launching a campaign Show elections try to distract public opinion – even temporarily – from the current crisis. The heavy failure of the regime’s other electoral show during the vulgar show “Elections of the Islamic Council and the Assembly of Experts” shook the shaky foundations of the regime so much that Masoud Pirhadi, the editor of the fundamentalist newspaper “Rasalat”, in his editorial on May 22, 1403, about the result of the second round of the election The Majlis also wrote that the votes cast in the boxes in Tehran were only seven percent of the total eligible votes in the capital, “I insist on using ‘disaster’ and ‘crisis’ and a little bit of ‘humiliation’ in this article, but let us bite the cake; Maybe we will get a shake and stop these omissions that have made us careless.”

In the announcement of March 12, 1402, the Mass Party of Iran reminded about the heavy defeat of the regime’s elections: “The experience of widespread and coordinated boycott of the elections of March 11, 1402 with the support of workers, retirees, teachers, petitioning families, political prisoners, civil organizations, progressive and freedom-loving forces, parties And the political organizations of the country showed that with joint efforts, the way to challenge the authoritarian government can be opened. Iran’s mass party believes that the acute conditions of the country are like a fire under the ashes, which will rekindle sooner or later like the large-scale popular protests of 1996 and 1998 and the “Women, Life, Freedom” movement.

The ” election” ahead, the evaluation of our party, and the testing of the tested

The start of the ridiculous caravan of nominations of the candidates for the show presidential election, from Ahmadinejad to Jalili, Qalibaf, Larijani, and Jahangiri, and the hand-made marginalization of the government’s propaganda apparatus regarding the approval or disqualification of this or that candidate, is another desperate attempt to “attract” attention. We are watching the drama of the appointment of a successor for a president on July 8, 1403, the appointment of a successor that will not have an effect in favor of the people on the macro-policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran and will only be a change in the face of the oppressive regime. Viewing the debates of recent days, including the advice to the Velayat-e-Faqih regime to “hold free elections” and the “choice between bad and worse” debate, which has expired, and the deceptive view that you see “a difference between Qalibaf, Jalili, Ahmadinejad, Larijani, and Do you not see “Jahangiri”? Apart from the fact that the majority of these “volunteers” were not supposed to pass through the regime’s Guardian Council, there is an argument in the direction of inducing the opinion that by choosing one of these forms, the appearance of the country can be freed from the current oppression and oppression and the trampling of the rights of workers and toilers. It led to “democracy” and the realization of people’s rights. The exact question is, which of these candidates, who are all well-known figures of the government, have taken a step towards fulfilling the rights of the people and challenging the regime of religious authority? In the past two decades, we have gone through 5 periods of presidential elections, from Ahmadinejad’s election to Rouhani’s and Raisi’s, and the elected and actually appointed to the position of president in all these periods all have similar policies in violent and bloody suppression of the rights of workers and toilers, women, and students (from 1984 until now), the implementation of disastrous economic policies in line with the country’s macro-capitalist interests, which have led to widespread poverty and deprivation, unemployment, inflation, unprecedented corruption, and the destruction of the country’s economic infrastructure. Has there been a difference between the macro policies of the country and the performance of these agents of the regime that today gave illusions about its possibility?

Finally, after all the hype, the Guardian Council announced the names of six candidates whose qualifications have been confirmed to run for the presidential election on Sunday, June 20, 1403. These 6 people are: Massoud Mezkiyan, Mostafa Pourmohammadi (another member of the death squad sent to kill political prisoners), Saeed Jalili, Alireza Zakani, Amirhossein Ghazizadeh Hashemi, and Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf (who has a serious case of student suppression, theft and corruption has wide). Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Ishaq Jahangiri, and Ali Larijani were also disqualified as expected. The Guardian Council for “warming up the election furnace” and the famous saying “the petition is not empty”, along with criminals like Mustafa Pourmohammadi, Qalibaf, and Jalili, a person like Masoud Al-Madikian, who was the first vice president during the presidency of Ali Larijani (1395 to 1399) The Islamic Council had disqualified him from running in the presidential election in 1400, this time it confirmed his candidacy. The purpose of this confirmation of the qualification of Masoud Mezikian, who happened to be disqualified for the recent (12th) Majlis elections, and then his qualification was confirmed with Khamenei’s intervention, is to bring parts of the reformists to the show and create the illusion of being another “hole” (in present or future) and in order to create desire in unwilling people (as compared to last year’s parliament elections) to participate in elections in which the majority of our country’s people’s vote and will have no effect. In the “Special Conversation” program with Khabar news channel on June 22, Mr. Medeshkian talked about his plans, including “the position of the 7th development plan in his government” and said: “During the presidential registration and the five minutes I had I said that we are not going to write a new program and consider a new policy. Leadership policies have been determined and legal work has been done, and whoever comes must implement the plans towards the seventh plan … Whatever government wants to come, the path must not be changed. The goal should not be lost.” In recent days, in a conversation with students that was broadcasted on the Internet network of the University of Tehran, the doctor clearly stated: ” I accept the leadership and I am totally in love with him. No one has the right to insult someone I believe in .

Iran’s mass party’s opinion about the upcoming election show is clear. In Iran, the issue of “elections” under the watchful supervision of the guardian and jurist not only does not give the people the right to choose their own destiny, but also participate in the leadership game of the regime for the Chinese pawns of the regime’s agents. We still believe that the Velayat al-Faqih regime is incorrigible, and therefore, the purpose of holding such shows is not to open a “hole” to improve the country’s situation, contrary to some illusions that are fueled by it, on this basis, people should be encouraged to participate in “elections”. ” invited. Iran’s Mass Party believes that this vulgar show of the regime should be boycotted and exposed through the widespread mobilization of popular forces and show that our people have long passed the regime’s games in the theater of choosing between “bad and worse” and do not believe that within the framework of the regime ” The reactionary and anti-people political Islam ruling our country is a fundamental change in the direction of the ruling macro policies and a step can be taken in the direction of realizing the rights of the oppressed people of our country. Contrary to this indoctrination of opinion and the idea that boycotting elections is a form of “passivity” against the regime, widespread and active boycott of elections, whether through non-participation or invalid votes in the ballot boxes, as well as extensive disclosure about the nature of this game of the regime’s leadership, is a form of effective activity. It is a struggle that we have seen the successful result of in the broad “election” boycott campaign of March 1402 of the Majlis Shura along with popular slogans of workers and toilers: “We will not vote anymore”. Participating in the elections ordered by the Velayat al-Faqih regime, whose importance in the eyes of the regime’s leaders is only used to claim popular support for the government’s policies, ultimately helps to demonstrate the legitimacy of a repressive and anti-people regime.

Dear compatriots, freedom fighters of the country!

Our joint move to boycott the election show of the hated and bankrupt Velayat Faqih regime led by Ali Khamenei is a clear message of the majority of the people of our country agreeing with this regime. For a long time now, our people have passed this anti-people government, which resulted in decades of poverty, deprivation, corruption, and widespread oppression and looting of Iran’s national resources, and they want to move towards a future free from this oppressive government. Iran’s Mass Party, as it has emphasized in its announcement in recent months, believes that today’s deep and wide gap between the majority of the society and the ruling dictatorship is irreparable. The majority of the society, especially the working class and other layers of hard workers, as well as women, youth, and students, want fundamental changes in the political and social fields and to get rid of this authoritarian regime. The Islamic Republic is decaying and is facing crises and difficult decisions for its survival, which of course will not necessarily guarantee its survival. By intensifying the joint and united struggle of all the national and freedom-loving forces of the country, we can move towards ending the dictatorial rule and establishing a national and democratic government.

Tudeh Party of Iran:

The death of Raisi, the Iranian president, chaos in a “homogeneous regime”, and the need to organise for maximum pressure on the ruling dictatorship!

(Extracts from the Editorial of Nameh Mardom, issue no. 1209, published Monday 3 June 2024)

With the death of Ebrahim Raisi, the criminal servant of the ruling dictatorship, the “homogeneous regime” project favoured by [“Supreme Leader”] Khamenei has suffered another blow. This project, centred around Raisi’s administration, hadalready overseen major failures in both domestic and foreign policy over the past three years.

On one front, the widespread boycotting of a succession of sham elections over the past three years, marked by the people’s resounding “NO!”,have dealt a significant blow to this project and the credibility of Khamenei and his appointed president. On the other, the widespread protests of the people under the slogan “Woman, Life, Freedom” have placed the entire ruling dictatorship in an unstable and irreversible situation and now in perpetual fear of the people.

As our Party has repeatedly emphasised, a deep, wide, and unbridgeable chasm has emerged between the people and the entirety of the ruling despotic regime. Despite the government’s false propaganda and an array of elaborate shows at Raisi’s funeral ceremonies, where he was glorified with false titles such as “Servant of Imam Reza” [Eighth Imam of the Shi’a Muslims] and “Servant of the Iranian Nation”, the majority of society was indifferent to these grand ceremonies and theatrical mourning displays. Many people even welcomed and expressed joy over the death of one of the dictatorial regime’s criminal servants.

As regards the realm of international publicity, the efforts of the Islamic Republic’s Foreign Ministry to invite world leaders to Raisi’s funeral ceremony and to present him as a “people’s martyr” and “hero of the Islamic resistance” did not yield favourable results for the theocratic regime. The absence of the leaders of powerful countries, especially those who are supposed to be the regime’s strategic allies, and the essence of the diplomatic messages of condolence received from other governments – mostly driven by their economic interests in Iran – highlight the bankruptcy in foreign policyas well as international isolation of the Islamic Republic.

However, it is worth noting that a handful of messages were also published by leftist and progressive forces of the world on this occasion “in praise” of Raisi. It seems that the publishers of these messages, oblivious to Raisi’s past crimes while in the judiciaryas well as the destructive policies of his government, were more swayed by the necessity to support the victims of Israel’s killing machine in Gaza. These forces have confused the superficial and insincere actions of the Islamic Republic and its crocodile tears for the Palestinian people for genuine support of their cause and rights. By ignoring the structure and nature of the ruling dictatorship – and the position of the president, selected by the “Supreme Leader”, within it – and completely overlooking Raisi’s criminal role in the massacre of Iran’s left and progressive political activists, they have honoured him as an “anti-imperialist hero” of the “Islamic resistance” front.

One simply cannot support the struggle of the people and the left and progressive forces in Iran being waged under the repression and injustice of the theocratic dictatorship while, under the pretext of supporting an anti-imperialist struggle, sending condolences to the “leader” of that very same reactionary dictatorship and praising an executioner like Ebrahim Raisi! The justice-seeking and freedom-loving people and progressive forces of Iran, including the Tudeh Party of Iran, do not accept such statements in praise of the agents of the dictatorial regime, against which they have righteously arisen in struggle, and do not consider them worthy of the progressive forces of the world.

Today, it is clear that the ruling dictatorship’s domestic tactics to counter the “threat” of the people of Iran are limited to two main areas: one is brutal repression, and the other is the use of certain slogans and dramatic moves for the purposes of political deception. However, owing to the commendable social struggle of the Iranian people, the effectiveness of both tactics is diminishing day by day. For now, the regime can maintain the balance of power in its favour by relying on its repressive power.

If the [regime’s] current policies continue, it is clear that the deteriorating trend in living conditions of the working class and other toiling masses will not be halted. The fabric of this government’s power and its economic structure are intertwined with the implementation of economic programs based on the harsh neoliberal capitalist model, aligning Iran’s economy with the “Washington Consensus”. Thus, given the importance of selecting the [ageing and ailing] Khamenei’s successor sooner or later [as “Supreme Leader”], for the regime leaders and the upper layers of the bourgeoisie connected to the power pyramid, maintaining such a structure plays a decisive role in “safeguarding the regime”. Consequently, regardless of who holds the leadership positions in the three constitutive branches of the regime, the state apparatus will continue implementing economic programs based on the neoliberal model to preserve and expand the interests of the upper echelons of big capital in Iran.

On the international scene, it is well known that before Raisi’s death, representatives of the Islamic Republic, under Khamenei’s instructions, were engaged in negotiations with US representatives behind closed doors. Similar secret negotiations took place in Oman during the last year of Ahmadinejad’s presidency, which eventually led to the approval of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) through Khamenei’s “heroic flexibility” and his explicit orders to the parliament [to ratify it speedily]. It is worth bearing in mind that it was Donald Trump, as US president, who [in abrogating this arrangement] disrupted these equations, not the Islamic Republic regime. In fact, the officials of the Islamic Republic, with Khamenei’s approval and support, had been eagerly engaged in integrating Iran’s economy into the global capitalist system, an economy that is largely import-dependent, single-product (relying on oil exports), and dominated by finance-mercantile capital.

Following Raisi’s death, the plans of Khamenei and his inner circle to solidify a “homogeneous regime” and determine the successor tothe “Supreme Leader” have encountered chaos. The Islamic Republic, by organising presidential elections in the public sphere while simultaneously negotiating with the US behind closed doors, desperately seeks to stabilise the situation and ensure the continuity of its theocratic dictatorship. Against this backdrop, the united action and cooperation of the left and progressive forces can deal a significant blow to the ruling dictatorship by exposing and neutralising its tactics and forcing it into retreat.
