Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the United States Javlon Vahobov met by video conference with fellows of the El-Yurt Umidi Foundation, who are studying in the United States and Canada.

At the beginning of the meeting, the young people were informed about the great confidence of our country in our youth, the wide range of opportunities for them to study abroad, the special attention paid by the President to the training of mature, intellectually gifted and international standards.

Emphasis was placed on establishing direct partnerships between US and Uzbek universities, engaging the El-Yurt Umidi Foundation to organize educational programs and internships in the United States, and providing grant programs in this area.

The event was held in the form of an open dialogue with the students, in which the questions of the participants were answered in detail, and a number of their suggestions and recommendations were discussed. In particular, during the summer vacation of the El-Yurt Umidi Foundation scholars, local government, non-governmental and non-profit organizations, as well as internships in major American companies were discussed. Uzbek students were interested in the possibility of introducing similar internship programs in the diplomatic mission of our country in Washington and in government agencies of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The embassy noted that there are opportunities for students to do internships in the offices of the U.S. Congressional Caucus on Uzbekistan and a number of other local government offices, and that interested parties can apply to the United States.

Fellows of the El-Yurt Umidi Foundation were also informed that the Embassy delegation will visit these states this year to expand cooperation with their universities, get acquainted with the conditions created for Uzbek youth, and facilitate the provision of consular services.

During the discussions, a special group was formed on the Telegram social network, consisting of scholars of the El-Yurt Umidi Foundation in the United States and the staff of the Uzbek Embassy in Washington. passed.

It should be noted that today 82 El-Yurt Umidi Fellows study at 14 universities in the United States and about 30 universities in Canada. Of these, 63 are undergraduate, 17 are master’s and 2 are doctoral (PhD). In terms of education, the majority of students study computer technology and programming (19 students), law (9 students), business administration (7 students), economics (6 students), chemical engineering (6 students), and agriculture (3 students). ), finance (3) and other areas.

Many of our students study at some of the most advanced universities in the United States, including Arizona State University, Cincinnati University, the University of South Florida, Florida State University, Stanford University, and the University of Washington. In particular, Florida State University is one of the top 5 universities in the 2021 Global Universities (US News & World Report) ranking.

At the end of the meeting, which was held in a friendly and constructive atmosphere, it was agreed to hold such dialogue with Uzbek students and young scientists on a regular basis and to further strengthen cooperation with active Uzbek youth in the United States and Canada.
