Jacob Walles, the new Ambassador of the United States in Tunisia has presented his credentials to the President of the Republic, Moncef Marzouki.
Mr. Walles served as Deputy Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, in charge of U.S. policy vis-à-vis Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Palestinians. For over twenty years, he has actively participated in U.S. efforts to promote peace in the Middle East that dates back to the Madrid Conference in 1991.
From July 2005 to August 2009 he served as Consul General and Chief of Mission in Jerusalem.
