The leader of the Islamist al Qaeda network, Ayman al-Zawahiri called on Muslims to kidnap Westerners and urged Egyptians to restart their revolution to establish Islamic law, said Friday the SITE Intelligence Group.
“I call on Muslims to capture citizens of the countries that lead wars against Muslims,” al-Zawahiri, according to a video posted on jihadist forums and translated by the U.S. service.
Criticizing corrupt the new Egyptian government, whose president is a member of the Brothers Musulmnanes, the leader of Al Qaeda in Egypt said that a battle is being waged between a minority and secular Muslims seeking the application of Islamic law.
“The battle is not over, just begun,” said Al Zawahiri, urging “every candid in Egypt” to “wage a grassroots campaign” to “complete the revolution, which was aborted.”
Al Zawahiri, the Egyptian doctor who replaced al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden when he was killed in May 2011, said that Egyptian Muslims want to see their government free of American influence and the victory of the Palestinians over Israel, according to the site .
Al Zawahiri also attacked the outgoing U.S. president, Barack Obama, calling him a “professional liar” and demanding that supports their defeat in Iraq, Afghanistan and North Africa.
