09/10 Foreign Malala Yousafzai, Pakistani teenager who became known worldwide by its struggle for education for girls, was shot Tuesday in northwestern Pakistan. That report official sources. The shooting was claimed by the Taliban.
Taliban militants attacked a minibus that the 14-year-old Yousafzai and several classmates transported. According to an official from the hospital in Mingora gave the girl a bullet in the head and was knocked unconscious. At least one other girl was injured in the attack, said local police.
“The girl has a Western mentality and criticizing the Taliban and jihad, so we have attacked her,” said spokesman for the Taliban, Ihsanullah Ihsan. “This is a warning to anyone who follows her example and goes against the Taliban.”
Yousafzai received last year the first Pakistani National Peace Prize for her struggle for education for girls. She was also nominated for international peace prize for children of the Dutch foundation ‘Child Rights’. Malala became known worldwide for her blog, which she condemned violent actions of the Taliban.
