The US strategy in Afghanistan has failed. In spite of the US Administration’s diplomatic efforts and a considerable extension of the number of US servicemen in that country during Barack Obama’s term in office, no peace agreement has been reached with the Taliban.
Islamists refuse to cooperate with the US and remain a considerable force in the region, The New York Times reports on Tuesday.
The US and its allies are now facing a more modest task of providing talks between the internal political forces in Afghanistan. Washington hopes that the Afghans would come to an agreement between themselves.
This will happen only after 2014 when the coalition troops leave Afghanistan.
