23 bodies identified after explosion in Reynosa

Reynosa, Tamp. – Expert Services staff of the local office of the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) has identified 23 of the 30 workers who died after a fire at a Pemex installation on this border.

In a statement, Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex) said that a little less than two weeks before the event occurred, has clarified the identity of 23 people who were in the Gas Processing Center, on September 18.

He said staff delegation of the PGR in Tamaulipas has worked in 24-hour shifts, in order to expedite the work of identifying victims, after taking blood samples from relatives to expedite the process.

Pemex said that the explosion on 18 September in Gas Processing Complex, located at kilometer 19 of the Reynosa-Monterrey highway, killed 30 workers dead and 46 more injured.

He said that during the last few hours were able to confirm the identity of two more bodies, they were already returned to their families.

He said the bodies of Omar Arellano Rocha, employee of Apollo, and Ignacio Aguilar Cedillo, Pemex worker, have been identified and returned to their families.
